2009-2010 School Year has started

About 3 weeks before school started I told Kaleb that I was so excited for school to start, he told me that I was plum crazy for wanting that.. he doesnt quite get that its not because he will be back in school, its because that means that the cooler weather will soon be here.. and if anyone really knows me at all they know that winter is my all time favorite time of the year.. but it also means that its almost time for HOCKEY!!! I cant wait for that to finally start!!! USU has the best hockey team and its great to be able to go and chear them all on.

Until later...

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Well it finally happened, I turned 35 last Sunday!!! :(

It was a hard birthday for me, but it was fun. My mom decided to throw the kids a back to school party at the pool so that is what we did on my birthday! It was a lot of fun for everyone.

I dont have alot of time today to post, I am on my way to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack to treat myself for my birthday.. I figure that I deserve it.. so we drove to West Jordan to go to dinner. YUMMO!! I cant wait!!

Well I am off to dinner.. hopefully I can get online later and maybe post some pix from the night.

Relay for Life!

Hello everyone!! I was finally able to find a computer to update my blog!!!I was just saying today how much I missed being on this thing! Im going to have to make it a point to get to the library to update this thing more often. Anyways..... I want to share about what I did tonight.

I participated in the Relay for Life... this year was bitter sweet having just lost Grandpa Elliott in October 08 due to complication of Lung Cancer. I walked for him tonight and thought of all the fun times we had. The 4th of July weekend just passed and that was the same weekend as the Cruise in. We would all go up in the canyon to camp. This year, grandma asked if we wanted some chips and salsa....then proceeded to open a jar of salsa.. which was so totally ok... it just wasnt the same as fresh that gpa made to snack on. I sure miss him.

I also walked for my grandpa Myers who died in 1997 from stomach cancer. I miss him so much. I look at my dad and see my grandpa in him and some of the things he does reminds me of grandpa "Tug" so much that its like he is right there. I am going to have to get some pink mints this weekend... just to remind me of grandpa.

I walked for my dear sister in law for her battle that she fought...and thus far has won. She is CANCER FREE now for almost 3 years!!!! Yay!~~ It was so awesome to see her, my brother and their 3 daughters all there. Walking with the care takers and the Survivors.

I also walked for my Dr Patty Jones PA. Who I just found out is battling her cancer again after finding it in her bones. I look at that woman and see someone who is so upbeat, especially after all that she has been through, and I think to myself... my life? Its great.

If you have never participated in a Relay for Life event, I strongly recommend that you do it... its an amazing experience. I am posting some of the pix I took tonight.
Its good to be back!!!

This first pix is of Josh, Amber and Mady in the survivor/caretaker lap tonight.

It's too dang HOT out!

So I know that its been quite sometime since I have been on my blog to post or otherwise, but we were "blocked" from looking at blogs at work(which is what I did on my lunch) so here I sit stealing time on a friends computer to make a quick blog.

Today to beat the heat we went to the local Fun Park to let the boys run and play, which they did for almost 5 hours, they had the best time. We met my friend Heather and her boys there to let them all run, while we had mommy time and caught up on the events of our lives.

It was a great time and we will have to do it alot more, I would much rather be inside an air conditioned building than outside in the heat!!!

Have fun in the sun for all that like that....

In the Pursuit of Happiness - day 1

I was tagged by Jo. The challenge is to blog every day for 8 days about one thing that made me happy that day. I will totally do this, but it will have to be 8 work days as thats when I am able to blog. I tag - Sarah, Megan, and Chelle.

So day 1 -

I was driving to work this morning after having just left Kaleb at my moms to wait for the bus, and as Kaleb usually does, he calls me, just to talk.

So we talk for a few minutes about really nothing at all and then I tell him to get ready to head out to the bus, reminded him of all the things he needed to do and hung up. Well I forgot to tell him I loved him so I dialed him back and while waiting for him to answer I was jammin to Bon Jovi Bed of Roses. Singing my heart out.. and he answers.... I had to finish the long note and he just laughed and laughed...

I realized that his laugh made me way happy.. it was a great laugh.. so thats my happy thought for the day! Laughter is always the best early in the morning.....

My latest crafty projects

I decided to try to craft for Mother's Day instead of getting people something that they had to return for whatever reason.

This is what I came up with, a picture holder. I made one for my mom and my grandma as well as Kaleb's soccer coach(for all her help this season on and off the field). I am glad that they turned out as well as they did, everyone seemed to love them!

Here is my Moms.

Here is my Grandma's.

and here is Kaleb's soccer coach, Shauna's.

Tons of fun, and so easy to do. Now I have to decide what my next craft will be... hmmmmmm the possibilities are endless!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Mother's day to be has always been a day to celebrate my mom and grandma... lately things have changed a bit in the way that I look at the day and what needs to be celebrated. This year I wanted to reflect back to when I first became a mom to the wonderful whirlwind that I call Kaleb.

My first mothers day came on 11/28/2000, the day that wonderful whirlwind of a son came into my life. After I was fully awake, and over the shock of how NOT cute he was.. I realized right then in that moment that I was put on this Earth to be his mom, and to love and raise him as best as I could. While I dont always think that I am doing the best I can, I do love him more than anything in this world and would be totally and completely devestated without him. (How did that happen in the short 9 years that he has been with me???)

When I take a few minutes to just sit and watch Kaleb or listen to his endless chatter I have to remind myself that he is the reason that I am who I am, and I am happier now than I have ever been in my life.

My wish this Mother's Day is that all the mothers out there that read this, understand what I'm saying, and that they have one of those same moments on their Mother's Day... whenever it may be.

So on this Mother's Day, I want to celebrate all the mom's out there who are a part of me being the mom that I am today.. my mom, my grandma, my aunts, my sisters and my friends... Happy Mother's Day to you all!!!

And Kaleb? May we always take life as it comes together.. you are my heart!

Soccer

So 3 weeks ago the soccer season started, and as we ALL know the weather in Utah, we have been able to play 2 games out of the many that have been scheduled due to weather cancellations. Kaleb missed his first game because we were out of town but we made it to his second game.

This picture is when he got to kick the ball back into action, he did so good during the game. He was able to be goalie which he liked.. but when he went back to being a guard he forgot the no hands rule and picked up the ball just as it was about to go into the net! :) They got to shoot a penalty kick and missed! Whew!

Needless to say, our team lost :( (by alot!) but Kaleb loved playing and couldnt stop telling me how glad he was that we signed him up this year! He has informed me that he is going to play every year, so get ready mom!

I cant wait for more games I want to see him in action again, tomorrow is the next schedule game.. so cheer for us where ever you happen to be!

In Loving Memory

My family and the world has lost another great man! I learned that my Uncle Dan passed away on 4/20/09 after suffering from health problems. He was a really great guy to all who had the honor of knowing him. My Uncle Dan was an avid animal lover, he has many pets of his own, but the one thing I remember is going to his pet store when I was little and getting to hang out with him and all the animals. He loved birds, and has provided many a kid in our family with pets to take home and love.
I know that he is free from all his pain and that he is with my grandpa Syd tearin up the streets of heaven. Though our lives will never be the same without him here, it is my hope that the memories of him will help to heal the hearts of this family, especially Aunt Shirley and all their kids.
Love you and will miss you lots Uncle Dan!

Junkin

So my dad has always been really good at spotting "treasure" in anothers junk. For as long as I can remember my dad has always taken something that didnt work for someone else, tinkered with it and made it work for him, which is an awesome talent to have ... unless your just junkin to junk. My dad and his brothers always give pass along one pile of junk to another brother, or they trade junk! I have always thought it was funny when my mom flipped out about it... until my DAD decided that he needed a partner in junk .. and decided that partner should be none other than MY SON!!!
This week is the one week in a year that Hyrum City provides dumpsters for all sorts of garbage for its residents and my dad was cleaning up his yard with Kaleb's help. They headed over to throw away junk, and came home with "treasures"!!!
This is what they have found during the first 2 days at the dumpsters...

Kaleb and his snow items: a new snowboard and sled.

Kaleb and his "new" bike:

Kaleb and his "new" scooter: and his buddy... so proud of their find!!!

Just when I am tryin to learn and teach Kaleb to throw out unused items.. his buddy is teachin him the art of dumpster diving!

Gotta love them both!!

Happy Birthday Emily!!! (late)

So last Friday was my niece's birthday and I havent had the chance to post about her until today.

Emily is the most beautiful red curly haired girl that there ever was! She has light blue eyes is quick to smile and hug you when you need one! Emily has the most tender of hearts and often feels the pain of those around her to the point that she cries if you do. She is funny and smart and has just a touch of tomboy in her, always wanting to go and keep up with Kaleb sometimes getting hurt in the process but she is just over all FANTASTIC!!

She turned 8 and I can hardly believe that she is that old already, she is getting ready to be baptized at the beginning of May, which I couldnt be more proud of her for making that choice. She is truly a gift from God, and I am so happy that she is in my family.

I made this frame for her to put whatever picture she wants in it, but its bright and cheery and girly.. just like Em!

Love you much!!

Happy Birthday to my first HERO!!!!

Yesterday was my dad's 55th birthday! Since I only have access to a computer for a limited time, I wanted to blog about him now!

My dad was my very first hero and he continues to be one to me now. As a little girl I couldnt wait for him to get home so that we could climb into the black rocker and watch M*A*S*H together, which we did everyday. My dad was gone a lot when we were growing up due to his job, but there was never a time that I wasnt glad to see him come home from off the road. He worked hard for our family, and he still does.
My dad is a rough and tough guy, but it never failed that all of us kids friends loved my dad, and they still do.

My dad is still my biggest hero and has become the hero in Kaleb's life as well. According to Kaleb, there isnt anything that buddy(what Kaleb and my dad call each other)can't or won't do for him. My dad is incredibly patient with Kaleb and teaches him as much as Kaleb can absorb. The other night Kaleb wanted to call buddy on the phone cuz he was just certain that he could fix his friends scooter if buddy walked him through it over the phone!

I love my dad more than any other man on this earth and probably always will. He is the most amazing man, husband, dad, and grandpa that I know and I am the luckiest girl in the world cuz he is mine!!!

Happy 55th birthday old man!!! I love you!!!

Who is too cool???

A couple of weekends ago Kaleb and I had the chance to help out a friend (who was in the hospital with her newborn) by watching her 3 year old Daniel. Kaleb and Daniel are the greatest of buddies, Daniel loves to follow Kaleb everywhere, and who are we kidding Kaleb loves for him to follow him everywhere. So they get along famously!
While we were there the boys decided that they wanted their pictures taken over and over, every time I turned around Daniel would hand me my phone, smile and say cheese!

They thought that they were so fabo when they put these glasses on, but neither one of them realized that they were on upside down! Here is the next generation of too cool for you rock stars!

Love them both to death.... sometimes I just want to squeeze them so HARD! xoxo.

Tiny Baby Feet... or NOT!

Kaleb's favorite thing lately is taking pictures with my cell phone, then laugh like a maniac at them! So we were talking the other day about baby pictures and he asks me, when I was a baby did you take a picture of my feet? (Hello?? Random?) I said, Oh Im sure I did, most all moms do... besides you had abnormally large feet so Im sure I took pix of them! :) Needless to say.. he didnt believe me! Sheesh! So he flipped his feet up on my leg and asked me to take a picture of his feet...
Oh my cute little boy.. still has abnormally large feet!!! But I love them as much today as I did when he was born!

Another first!

So this year Kaleb talked me into letting him play soccer, and believe me I did everything in that I could to convince him NOT to play. I know, I know! Why cant he play, you ask? Who in their right minds lets their children play a sport that requires THEM(the parents) to have to sit on the sidelines and watch their child run back and forth while it rains and snows??? Yes, I said snow because we all know that in UTAH it snows sometimes even in June!

So yes, I will now be among all the people I have pointed and laughed at as they sit there in the snow.. I will be there! Kaleb and I went and picked up his uniform, and he just HAD to try it on.. so I just HAD to take a pix to post on here!!!

After seeing him in his uniform, Im excited to see him running back and forth even in the snow and rain!!!

Fun for the whole family!

So Kaleb came home from school really excited about this "starlab" that his school was having and we just HAD to go! So we went on Tuesday night(me not having a clue what I was getting into) and had a BLAST!
This starlab is a big dome blow up (kinda like a fun house)that you have to crawl to get into (having just come from work, I was in a skirt!) but once inside you sit around the edges of this dome and then the person in charge of it all turns off the ligts and turns on this machine.. and instantly we are sitting under a dark night sky being able to see all the stars! It was fantastic! It was like being at the planetarium only much closer to home and much cheaper!
We learned about the stars and the constellations, the moon and the center of the Milky Way. It was a lot of fun, and I recommend anyone go to it if they hear of it being a their kids school.
Here are some of the pix from that night.
This is the actual bubble!

This is Kaleb by the entrance to the bubble!

Pack Meeting

Last night Kaleb got his first award at Pack Meeting last night since he has been in scouts. He earned 2 beads for his Progress towards rank award. He was so excited, he was supposed to be awarded with his Bobcat award last night but didnt get that, because his leader forgot to mention to me that I had an application to fill out! So needless to say he didnt get the Bobcat, and was disappointed but next month he will have it and more!

I'm so proud him and how much he has taken to this program! He wants to work on his goals to get his patches and is always wanting to help out with things now to earn more and more awards!

Keep up the good work buddy! Love you much!

This is Kaleb and his award attached to his shirt!

I finally broke down and bought a new (to me) car last week, I have been driving the 90 Merc Sable for a couple of years, and while that car has been a good car.....Im DONE with it.

This car is a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus, green exterior and tan interior. I was able to purchase it with this years tax return, and I am SO excited to have it~!!

I was going to go today to register and license it, but we are in the middle of a FREAKIN blizzard!!! I am so NOT going out in this.. so I will have to wait yet another day to drive the new car!!! :(

Anyway.. I am excited and that is the most recent news that we have to share at this point.

Fun Times!

I havent blogged for a while, so I thought I would catch up! Last weekend we attended the USU Hockey games both Friday and Saturday nights! They are the best games especially when we win(Firday night) and even if we lose (Saturday night). Saturday night my sister Angie and her "boys" her hubby Don and their sons, Elliott and Trenten went with us. We had a blast! Trenten (9 months) clapped for the first time and he was so pleased with himself~! He is so dang cute I want to chew on him! When it came time to throw ding dongs into the crowd, Elliott took off like a bat and almost had one, but he and another little boy fought over it and the other little boy got it... Elliott cried so hard it broke my heart! So when the next ding dong came flyin up in the stands I jumped up and tried to catch one, it fell on the floor behind my chair, well the guy behind me started to go for it so I just flipped around to grab it and almost knocked myself out by hitting my head on the corner of my chair! OH my... what a game!

Below are some of the pix from that night.

This is Trenten

Elliott and the ding dong!

Me and Angie- what weirdo's we are!

My first time.... crafting on my own(sort of)

Ok so I did it!! I made the attempt at crafting on my own. I must say that I didnt do it all alone, I got the idea from my supervisor Melissa- and lots of text questions to Jo and - TA DA! Its done. I gave this shelf and these pix to Jo and UB for Christmas....and I must say.. Im rather impressed with them. ;)

The pix hanging from the shelf are of all of their kids, Miss Kadee in the pink flowered frame, Hunter in the dotted frame, Miss Taylor in the frame with pink swirls, and Joni and UB's baby, Max!!
I just hope that they like them as much as I liked making it for them. I now have the bug and plan on doing many more projects... so get ready for the texts Jo!!! Love ya much..
